Paris Fashion week is a highlight of the fashion year, and it wouldn’t be complete without the classic ballet flat. Beat the FROW to Paris’ coolest spots this Fashion Week with the help of Stephanie Peers, the style-conscious blogger behind The Style Memo.
Shop the shows at the city’s concept stores or take your ballet pumps to the after party with the wildest bartenders in Stephanie’s five favourite hangouts.
Monsieur Bleu
Stephanie says: “This is my perfect restaurant in Paris – delicious, simple French food and a stunning venue overlooking the Eiffel Tower, without a cheesy, touristy atmosphere.”
While the marble walls of the Palais de Tokyo certainly make for a stylish setting for the Monsieur Bleu, its unrivalled views of the Eiffel Tower should be the real reason you come here. Dine on the terrace from May to September for views of the Seine and a seasonally focused menu by chef Benjamin Masson.
Musée d'Orsay
Stephanie says: “It’s a fantastic museum with a stunning view over Paris and it’s perfect for a photo op in silhouette in front of the clock face.”
Located in the train station building Victor Laloux constructed for the 1900 World Fair, the Musee d’Orsay is a national museum as impressive as the art collections it holds. With a focus on the years 1848-1914, Realism, Impressionism, Symbolism and Art nouveau movements all get a mention here, with works from big hitters Monet, Renoir, van Gogh, Degas and Cézanne just some of the favourites. From 22nd March 2016, Henri Rousseau is also the focus of The Douanier Rousseau. Archaic Candour exhibition.
Ralph Lauren St Germain
Stephanie says: “This is a super chic neighbourhood restaurant by the king of lifestyle branding, Ralph Lauren, which is set around a gorgeous courtyard behind the store. I want to move in.”
Take the branded door to the courtyard space behind Ralph Lauren’s 173 Boulevard Saint Germain store and you’ll find a dining experience befitting the luxury out front. As you’d expect, the uniforms are especially stylish at Ralph’s first European restaurant. Cobb salads, burgers and New York cheesecake also grace the menu of this ‘American in Paris’.
Colette
Stephanie says: “This is the ultimate concept store with the best edit of collections, from fashion, jewellery, beauty to objects to lust after.”
Founded by Sarah Andelman in 1997, high-end boutique Colette is a FROW favourite and as much of a landmark as Paris’ more touristy attractions. Named after her mother, Colette Roussaux, this is where you come to find ‘what’s next’ in apparel and accessories, from the most famous fashion houses such as Lanvin and Prada to emerging designers.
Le Titty Twister
Stephanie says: “The coolest club in town – filled with effortlessly beautiful types and the wildest bartenders.”
Follow the neon lights to Paris’ newest nightlife addition and you’ll find the fashion crowd sipping on cocktails with rock-inspired names. Hoping to bring a ‘New York-style, friendly but highly charged atmosphere’ to Paris’ Rue de Berri, the guys behind Titty Twister have created a Pulp Fiction-inspired bar where electro tunes warm the dance floor. As its flashing pink signs says, “if the music is too loud, you are too old”.
