DAS JAHR DES HUNDES
The Year of the Dog is here and, as usual, Chinese New Year in London will be one of the most exciting events in February. Colourful parades, stage performances, displays, dancers, traditional food stalls and many exchanges of “Xin Nian Kuai Le” (pronounced sing nee-ann koo-why ler)! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Having the largest Chinese New Year celebrations outside of Asia, let’s take a look at what’s happening in London Town.
What: Chinese New Year - The Year of the Dog
When: Sunday 18th February
Where: Across the West End, from Shaftesbury Avenue in the north down to Trafalgar Square
Kicking off at 10am in Charing Cross, watch colourful costumes and more than 50 teams taking part in the Vibrant Chinese New Year parade. Follow the dragon and lion dance through to China Town – we can ensure this is an experience never to be forgotten.
Trafalgar Square
The fun here begins at 11am. Screen shows and a thanksgiving ceremony are followed by firecrackers, speeches and the Lions’ Eye-Dotting ceremony at 12pm. From 12.30pm, experience traditional dragon and flying lion dancers, stage performances, music shows, acrobatics and interactive dance sessions. Feeling peckish? Head to the authentic food stalls lining the square.
