THE FASHION BLOGGERS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Heels or flat sandals? LFW or NYFW? We caught up with the bloggers behind the coolest Instagram feeds and street-style looks. Meet The Style Memo, Peony Lim and My Girls On Tour and who inspires them...

The Style Memo

Having worked at Amanda Wakeley, Roland Mouret and Celine before ending up at a hedge fund, Stephanie Peers returned to her first love of fashion and started The Style Memo in 2014. Cool basics and high-octane glamour in the coolest international locations make this blog a firm favourite.

Stephanie says…

How would you describe your personal style? I like to buy good quality basics in neutral colours, so my daily uniform is pretty much always leather leggings, cashmere sweaters and soft drapey T-shirts or a perfect LBD for nights out. Working on The Style Memo has definitely made my style a little more adventurous and you'll even find me in a splash of colour these days.

What are the catwalk shows you don't miss and why? Felder Felder at LFW always has such a good atmosphere and the girls come dancing down the catwalk for the finale. I always check out the collections from Burberry, Balmain and Christopher Kane too, but the real dream is to attend the Chanel Haute Couture shows in Paris.

Who are the blogs you look to for inspiration? I have a whole stack of favourites from street stylers to more editorial blogs. I always try and catch The Golden Diamonds, Shine By Three, Fairfax Journal and Song of Style.

Peony Lim

Peony Lim draws on her Chinese and English background and travels between London and Asia to create her eponymous blog, which she started in 2013. In its first year alone, Vogue Russia, ASOS Magazine, The Sunday Times Style, Grazia, Tatler, The Evening Standard and us were among the fans of her polished aesthetic and slick of red lipstick.

Peony says...

How would you describe your personal style? I have a classic style. I don't really follow trends – it’s more about quality and modern tailoring for me. I always love a great pair of jeans, a white shirt and Manolos.

What piece in your wardrobe could you not do without? A good T-shirt bra from Calvin Klein.

What are the catwalk shows you don't miss and why? I don't love fashion week as it’s a work week. You can’t tell what collections you will like or hate in advance as the designers always surprise you too.

Who are the blogs you look to for inspiration? I love food and beauty sites like Donna Hay, The Coveteur, The Chriselle Factor and Gary Pepper Girl.

My Girls On Tour

While Abigail Royston’s professional tennis playing past may not be the obvious route to fashion blogging success, she has swapped the WTA tennis tour for London Fashion Week and never looked back. As a result, My Girls On Tour was even made an official blog by the British Fashion Council in September 2015.

Abigail says…

How would you describe your personal style? I am influenced by the places that I travel to and London's fun avant-garde approach to fashion. I try to reflect these things in my style, which is quite colourful but also quite urban.

What's your favourite outfit right now? Since going to NYFW, where it was freezing, I have been obsessed with layering. It is still quite cold in London, so I have been wearing a long shirt over ripped jeans, a shorter thick jumper and then a long overcoat. I am loving ghilli shoes because they really add a sophisticated touch to any casual outfit too.

What are the catwalk shows you don't miss and why? I love going to Pam Hogg's catwalk show because the pieces are so different and the crowd is so fun and alternative. Thomas Wylde's designs are stunning, his New York shows are full of celebs and the atmosphere is amazing too.

Who are the blogs you look to for inspiration? One of the reasons why I love being a blogger is that I get to interact and meet such amazing people who have such inspirational blogs. Some of my favourites are Chiara Ferragni, Kristina Bazan, Lovely Pepa blog and Sjana.

Here at Butterfly Twists we know it can be difficult to find comfortable shoes that are also stylish, that’s why our main aim is to find the balance between style and comfort. Our range of ballet flats does just this, with a wide colour and style range there really is something for everyone.
