5 things to do in London this Bank Holiday
by Butterfly Twists
The August bank holiday: three glorious days in which to make the most of the last weekend of summer. Unfortunately, it's famous for its less-than-perfect weather.
But, after a summer of unpredictability, we're pretty excited to see that this August Bank Holiday isn't looking like a total washout (maybe just a little bit of one). With the sun set to be shining, there's no excuse to stay at home this weekend, especially when there is SO much you'd be missing out on.
1) Notting Hill Carnival
It's Carnival time! Europe's biggest street party is back for it's annual celebration and it's all on our home patch.
Our much loved streets of west London are transformed into a huge Caribbean carnival - think incredible costumes, calypso, mas and pan bands, countless food stalls dishing up Carribean favourites and LOTS of dancing!
More than 60 bands and thousands of performers will be dancing their way through the streets of London as they make their way to the main stage at Powis Square.
The only way to join the vibrant celebrations is in a bright outfit - our office poll tells us we'll mostly be dancing the weekend away in Reese in aqua
2) South West Four
SW4 2013 (Copyright South West Four festival)
For a real end-of-summer blow out, head down to Clapham Common for SW4, an essential festival for any electronic fans. This year's line-up includes Skrillex, Faithless, Fatboy Slim and Martin Garrix.
If you're lucky enough to get your hands on the much sought after tickets, make sure you check out our festival style guide

3) Beach East

Don't let living in a city far from the coast stop you from hitting the beach! Urban beaches have been set up across the city this summer and we'd recommend Beach East at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
One thousand tons of sand have been used to create the beach, which boasts a huge paddling pool, volleyball games, funfair rides and, most importantly, a couple of beach bars.
Don't miss out - this is the last weekend the beach is in action for Summer 2015, so grab your sandals
, and cross your fingers for plenty of sunshine this weekend!
4) Southbank Centre's Festival of Love

Feeling the love this weekend? You're in luck! Thirty couples are going to be tying the knot, or renewing their vows, as part of the Southbank Centre's 'Festival of Love'.
The Big Wedding Weekend is a huge celebration which is open to anyone and everyone, with free music, dancing, arts and crafts to take part in.
We wouldn't celebrate that level of romance in anything other than our heart print Gabriella loafers.
5) Travel Photographer of the Year Exhibition
Prepare for some serious wanderlust inspiration at the Royal Geographical Society's Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Photographers from over 100 countries took part in 2014 competition, and the exhibition at RGS, near Knightsbridge, showcases the entries that took the top honours at last year's awards.
Best of all, the exhibition is completely free, perfect for any rainy days the weekend might throw our way - which, let's be honest, is pretty likely to happen.
