Butterfly Twists is a ballerina and boot brand for women, founded in 2007 and launched in London in 2009 by Emmanuel Eribo, Frank Eribo, Mark Quaradeghini and Philippe Homsy. This unique fashion-forward brand was born after one of them (who shall remain nameless) knew exactly what it felt like to be in a woman’s shoes after losing a bet and attending a party wearing a pair of 6 inch stilettos!
For almost two years, the founders worked their day jobs in The City and on evenings and weekends worked on developing the product that would become Butterfly Twists.
After launching the brand in 2009 at a well-known tradeshow in Europe, the founders knew they were onto something special after generating orders for over 50,000 pairs of shoes in just 4 days. They returned to the UK, quit their jobs and set about building an international lifestyle brand.
In 2011, Butterfly Twists was recognized by the United Kingdom Fashion Textile Awards, winning the best new exporter trophy thus highlighting their international growth and expansion.
In 2012, "Pentland", the global brand management company behind the likes of "Hunter", "Speedo", "Lacoste" and "Ted Baker" footwear, saw the growing potential of Butterfly Twists and made a sizeable investment in the brand.
At present, Butterfly Twists is sold in 30+ countries and continues to grow internationally. The brand has also made a name for itself in top fashion magazines as the #1 footwear brand for the girl on-the-go. You can find Butterfly Twists featured in Cosmopolitan, Elle, Draper’s, Glamour, Grazia, Vogue magazines and many others as well as popular fashion blogs.
